A deep blue circle. A gently curving cord.

The story

Water is the element that finds the lowest path. The cord was chosen because it behaves like water against the skin; the lapis because its flecks of pyrite read as light moving under a surface.

The design

A single opening at the centre, an uneven edge, and a braided cord in the same family of blues so the piece reads as one object.

The piece photographed against indigo silk, with its height and width marked.

About this piece

A disc of lapis, hung on a braided cord rather than a chain. The cord softens the piece and lets it sit lower, where it moves with breathing.

Yes, natural lapis lazuli. The gold flecks are pyrite and vary between stones.
